Black Waterfall, on a hike-walk to it, it is better to go on a day when the weather does not bode well in the afternoon, or if you are not in very optimal physical shape. The route to the Black Waterfall is very simple and short, the distance from Shymbulak is only about 3.2 km.

The easiest of the proposed weekend routes. Beautiful landscapes will not leave any participant of the hike indifferent. The Kok-Zhailau plateau attracts tourists and residents of Almaty not only with its green expanses at the foot of the peaks with pastures where cattle graze, but also with the splendor of fir-trees growing in the middle of the plateau. These fir-trees decorate Kok-Zhailau and leave it a unique place of interest in the Zailiyski Alatau. Very often tourists stay at Kok-Zhailau overnight, because it is relatively close to Almaty, you can breathe in the mountain air without climbing high on the peaks or ridges of the mountains.

The memorial to3 the perished climbers is a landmark place, very dear to alpinists and hikers not only in Almaty, but also in other cities of the Republic. It is unique in that there is no such place not only in the mountain regions of the former USSR, where there were also enough climbers, but even in Europe, where mountaineering, in actuality, originated. Only in Chamonix – the heart of the French Alps, the cradle of mountaineering – there is some semblance of our Memorial.

Medium difficulty routes:
Gorelnik Canyon is located between the Medeo highland skating rink and the Shymbulak Mountain Resort.
The ascent is carried out through a picturial canyon, to the foot of the Lower Waterfall.
The lower waterfall is a low, cascading waterfall about 5 meters in height. In order to climb the Upper Waterfall, you need to return along the trail and climb higher.
And the upper waterfall is a cascade waterfall as well, but it is about 20 meters high. In order to enjoy it, you need to climb higher on the opposite trail from the waterfall.

The “Mynzhylki” plateau is a wide flat valley with steep slopes, about 4 km long, surrounded by glaciers. The name means “pasture for horses”.
A stationary year-round weather station and a dam of the same name are located in the tract. Behind the dam, there is a view of alpine meadows and a huge moraine shaft of the Tuyuksu glacier.

Pendullum – is a popular place among locals, it is attractive because you can ride a swing in the mountains, and since they are located on a ridge, you’ll feel like you’re flying. The trail passes through the picturesque Kim — Asar gorge, on the ridge there are charming views of the city and the surrounding peaks.

The ascent to the peak of Chimbulachka, with a height of 3450 m above sea level — is probably the shortest route to the top with such a height, in the vicinity of Almaty. From the top you will have a view of the Bogdanovich glacier, with the surrounding peaks, from left to right: Chkalov, Komsomol, Fizkulturnik, Pioneer, Amangeldy, Abaya, Shkolnik, Edelweiss.

The “Three Brothers ” peak is part of the Kumbel Ridge. Kum is translated from Kazakh as sand, bel-back, ridge, i.e. a sandy ridge or a ridge that is not covered with eternal snows. The Russian name of Kumbel is a dry ridge. The height of the “Three Brothers” peak is 2860 meters above sea level.
A special feature of the peak are three large rock formations standing on the ridge, in honor of them it is called “Three Brothers”, the brothers are clearly visible from the side of the ascent.

Lake No. 6 or Lake of Manshuk Mametova, among Almaty residents is “manshuchka”.
The moraine lake is located at an altitude of 3500 m, surrounded by high-altitude peaks.

This is the most popular peak among the tourists. Located on an altitude of 3,200 meters, there is zero avalanche danger on the route and the ascent does not require serious physical training and special equipment. The stunning views will enchant you all the way to the top, and the feeling with which you will stand on the conquered peak cannot be described in any words.

The culmination of the hike is a breathtaking view of the huge Molodezhny glacier and the majestic peaks towering around.
The path passes through the Tuyuksu alpine camp, the Memorial to the perished climbers, the Mynzhylki weather station to the T-1 glaciological station, at the foot of the Molodezhny Glacier.

The Titova moraine lakes are located at the foot of the peak of the same name in the upper reaches of the Gorelnik gorge on an altitude of 3377 m, at a distance of about 10 kilometers from the entrance to the gorge.
The lakes are especially beautiful in the month of July. They have different colors at different times of the year and day.
It is possible to walk to the lakes from the Malaya Almatinka gorge, through the Titova pass (3650 m)

The Bogdanovich glacier is surrounded by rocks and high peaks visible from the city. On the route, you will feel the greatness of the mountains, their strength, see the faults and cracks on the glacier.
A large number of mountaineering routes to peaks with a height of 4,000 meters begin from this glacier.
From the Talgar pass, you can see the highest peak of the Zailiysky Alatau ridge – Talgar peak 4973 m.

Tuyuksu Glacier is a valley glacier in the Maloalmatinsky Gorge. The central and largest glacier in this area.
It is considered the most studied glacier of the former Soviet Union. This is due to the fact that the glaciological station “Tuyuksu -1” operates near the glacier.
The Tuyuksu glacier is framed by the peaks popular among climbers: Peak Molodezhny, Peak Tuyuksu, Peak Pogrebetsky, Peak Mayakovsky. The highest peaks of the Maloalmatinsky Gorge rise nearby: Ordzhonikidze Peak (4410 m) and Partizan Peak (4390 m).

The circular trekking route, a peak with a height of 3,010 meters above sea level, is the final peak of the spur. Despite the fact that there are practically no sharp climbs on the route, the hike is more difficult than average, since it is protracted and requires good physical training. Before going to Bukreev Peak, it is advisable first to take such routes as a hike to Kok — Zhailau and Furmanov Peak.

The hike “Round-the-world” or in another way it can be called “Traverse of the four peaks”, because the trail will take us through the peaks “Furmanovka”, “Panorama”, “Bashuta”and “Shymbulak”. A very beautiful and quite difficult round trip. You can hike it in both directions.
